About Sean Hosier

Welcome! My name is Sean and I created this space to share my work. Here, you'll find a variety of media including tattoos, illustrations, oil paintings, photography and design. I'm a tattoo artist by profession with a bachelors in graphic design. My home base is at Inkcredible Tattoo and Piercings Google Maps in Lancaster, PA.

History

For as long as I can remember, I've spent most of my free time drawing. When I was a young boy, my uncle gifted me with an art kit which my brother and I quickly used up. My brother eventually transitioned to spending his time with guitar while I graduated from crayons and markers to pencils. I focused on drawing anime like Pokémon, and then Dragon Ball. I began paying more attention to shading as I moved on to recreating book cover and video game print media. When it was clear I wouldn't progress without technique, my aunt gave me just the instruction I needed to start building a skillset. She had graduated from art school for set design and made a living painting murals for wealthy clients. From there, my interest in graphite realism grew. I was looking to follow in my aunt's footsteps and go to art school and began preparing a portfolio of human form graphite drawings.

I applied for and was accepted at the Art Institute of York, Pennsylvania, to obtain a bachelor's in graphic design. In addition to a digital design and photography skillset, I learned to use a variety of fine art mediums including the opportunity to refine my graphite technique. As I prepared for a career in graphic design, I knew I actually wanted to make a living as a fine artist. I saw the Art Institutes as an opportunity to learn how to brand myself and supplement my income as a fine artist, rather than the other way around.

aboutpic When I graduated and moved back home, I got a job at a sign company. At the time, I was still eager to keep learning and growing and was looking for a serious challenge in fine arts. In school I had several close friends who tattooed and I thought I'd follow their lead. I dove headfirst into research and preparing a fine arts portfolio to present to tattoo shops with the hope to secure a formal tattoo apprenticeship.

I spent several years as a production artist at several sign companies and at even more tattoo apprenticeships. The sign companies paid the bills while I built a set of skills and clientele at tattoo shops. Eventually I found a tattoo shop where I could settle down and quit my sign company job as the busy season approached. Royal Ink helped me to build the routines and habits I would build on for the rest of my career. Then in 2019, the opportunity presented itself to move to Lancaster, PA, where I settled down and have been tattooing ever since.

Today, I spend my time tattooing, drawing, learning to code and gaming. I specialize in black and gray with subjects including but not limited to animals, sculptures and religious imagery. I'm also able to do well with full color, traditional and cover-ups too. My fine art focuses most on graphite depicting animals and sculpture.

I'm currently learning Javascript, playing Cyberpunk and always setting new goals for myself. Thanks for visiting!
